Greetings Earthlings,
On Friday March 20 at 4:44 am Pacific Time, the Sun's rays will cross over the Equator, marking the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. In Iran we have celebrated this as No Ruz (New [Year's] Day) for several millennia, and even today this Zoroastrian observance is the biggest holiday of the year. Our calendar is basically the zodiac: the first month corresponds with Aries, the second month with Taurus, etc. Since a month is on average thirty days, and each of the twelve signs of the zodiac are measured as thirty degrees of the 360 degree ecliptic of the heavens, against which the Sun and other planets are seen to circle from a geocentric perspective, in Iran everyone's birthday is an indication of the sign and degree of the Sun in their natal chart. For example, if you were born five days after the Spring Equinox, your birthday would be the fifth day of the first month and your Sun would be at five degrees Aries, the first sign. Not to say that astrology is any more widely known in Iran today than anywhere else, or that people are generally aware of their natal solar position, but there is certainly an interesting tradition behind this. It is now fairly unanimously agreed upon by Biblical scholars that The Three Wise Men in the Bible were Persian Zoroastrian astrologers, and that the term Magi was the name of a particular group of practitioners.

The evening star they called Hesperos (Latinized Hesperus) (Ἓσπερος, the "star of the evening"), but by Hellenistic times, they realized the two were the same planet. Happy Monday: Lunar Eclipse
From: Pardis Barjesteh
Sent: Sun 2/8/09 8:45 PM
Greetings Earthlings,
The Full Moon will occur at Monday February 9th at 6:49 am Pacific Time, and due to the nearness of the Moon's nodes, it will also be a Lunar Eclipse. This pair of eclipses were first referred to a couple weeks ago when the New Moon of this lunar cycle brought us a Solar Eclipse, so if you want to refresh your memory on eclipses, that message is archived here: http://uraniarising.blogspot.com/2009/01/i-heart-eclipses.html. If you are reading this after the eclipse, bear in mind the effects will resonate for a few days, so please keep reading.
Solar Eclipses tend to have more to do with external circumstances and Lunar Eclipses tend to have more to do with internal matters. In the Solar, the Sun is being eclipsed; in the Lunar, the Moon is being eclipsed. The Sun reflects our soul's purpose in the world and the Moon relates to our emotions.
The Sun and Moon will be at 21 degrees of Aquarius and Leo respectively, so if you have planets or other sensitive points in your chart near those degrees in those signs (or even those degrees in other signs), you will feel the eclipse more strongly than others who do not; and whatever you have in those degrees (and the houses they are in natally), will reflect how you will feel this. Do not worry if you do not know your chart (see postscript for a free online chart resource), or you do not know what this means--astrology offers us useful archetypes for understanding our experiences. It is more important that your experience helps you understand astrology than it is for astrology to suggest what you will experience, although it is definitely a feedback loop. If that all sounds very cryptic, just keep it in mind and I will attempt to clarify later. And since everyone keeps asking me if these things are good or bad, I will reiterate that all astrological features can manifest in positive or negative ways (I have no doubt that may just make you more confused, but Saturnian time constraints prevent further commentary just now).
The single most striking thing about this eclipse is that Chiron is almost exactly conjunct the Sun in the 21st degree of Aquarius, so the Chironic themes of woundedness and healing will be present, and relating to how we express ourselves (Leo) in the context of the community (Aquarius). Some of these themes were previously discussed in my messages on:
the inauguration: http://uraniarising.blogspot.com/2009/01/omens-of-inauguration.html
and the Jupiter ingress: http://uraniarising.blogspot.com/2009/01/jupiter-enters-aquarius.html
and Neptune in the 23rd degree of Aquarius is also close enough to be relevant.
I received a wonderful email from a complete stranger about their solar eclipse experience, so please feel free to share with me, and you can also comment on the blog if you wish to share with others. As always, please pass this email on to others who may be interested, and if you get this, email me if you wish to be added to my mailing list (or email me if you wish to unsubscribe, no hard feelings).
I hope to find some time soon to write the long version of the Saturn-Uranus #2 message, because there are three more of those on the horizon, and I am getting a strong feeling that Chiron in Aquarius is the key to understanding that. This newsletter is something new for me (birthed by the Pluto Solstice), so thank you for your patience as I get better at sending it out in a timelier manner and explaining the complexities in greater depth. Though I may not have replied to you personally yet, I am always touched by your friendship, readership, and kind words.
With blessings from the cosmos,
Pardis
p.s. There are endless astrology sites on the web (and I once heard a claim that it is the second most commonly searched subject online). Some are better than others, and at some point I hope to provide a guide to these (but please limit online browsing during office hours to breaks/lunchtime, because Saturn is in Virgo, my friends; our daily service is more crucial than ever, and I could not bear the thought of being complicit in undermining your productivity). Many of these provide charts and reports, but bear in mind that "canned" or computerized reports are by nature of limited use, and may be suspect to the extent that in dismissing their limited offerings, one could unwisely dismiss along with them the much more serious and powerful benefits of astrological guidance that can be provided by a trained professional working with you to understand your specific chart in the context of your unique life (and please contact me if you are interested). If a canned report does not ring true, the failing is with the limitations of a computerized analysis and not astrology. Aside from occasionally consulting with a professional, it is really not so difficult to understand enough of the basics of this subject to use it yourself on a more frequent basis, and I also intend to offer some basic D-I-Y techniques along these lines in future emails, as well as workshops on both basic and advanced techniques you can work with. If you have never seen your chart, you can get one free at the first link below. Treasure it well for it is the mandala of your soul.

Saturn-Uranus #2
From: Pardis Barjesteh
Sent: Thu 2/5/09 7:34 AM
Greetings Earthlings,
This is the shortest email you will ever receive from me (at least it started that way, but there's always more to say). Today is the second of the five Saturn-Uranus oppositions in this planetary cycle. Lots to discuss about that later. Briefly, for now, I'll just remind you that the first opposition was on Election Day 2008. Here we go again...
Saturn = structure
Uranus = sudden revolutionary innovative liberating lightning bolt change
Opposition = what the Sun and Moon do at the Full Moon (polarity)
Got it? Good! What do you elect today?
I just saw that it happens at 3 am PST Thurs Feb 5th, so by the time you read this, technically speaking, the aspect is separating, but nevertheless quite strong. Still, it's not too late to anticipate the Venus-Pluto square at 8:23 pm, which goes well with these early days of the Venus retrograde shadow/echo phase.
Venus = love/beauty/art/value
Pluto = intensity/depth/power
(and of course all that death/rebirth stuff--see Pluto Solstice message)
Square = what the Sun and Moon do at the Half Moons
(not exactly easy, but worth the work)
Still with me? Even better!
Confused? Give it time...(something I don't have just now to explain further, just pay attention to what you are experiencing, good advice anytime)
With blessings from the cosmos,
Pardis

I Heart Eclipses!!!
From: Pardis Barjesteh
Sent: Sun 1/25/09 2:10 AM
Greetings Earthlings,
Yes, it's the moment you've all been waiting for: Eclipse Season is upon us once again!!!
Most of us hear about eclipses when they are visible to us and they seem to happen every once in a while. The fact is they happen twice a year in pairs, with sometimes a third one thrown in for good measure. Now we all know what a New Moon and a Full Moon look like. On a New Moon, the Moon and Sun occupy the same zodiacal degree, say 6 degrees Aquarius (1/25/09)--the Moon lines up exactly between the Sun and the Earth, so the Sun shines on the Moon, but we see it not. On a Full Moon, the Moon and Sun occupy opposite zodiacal degrees, say Sun at 21 degrees Aquarius and Moon and 21 degrees Leo (2/9/09)--the Earth lines up exactly between the Sun and the Moon, so the Sun shines on the Moon, and we see it all. But even though they are longitudinally aligned, more often than not, they are not latitudinally aligned, because the plane on which the Moon revolves around the Earth is tilted in comparison to the ecliptic plane on which the Earth revolves around the Sun. I gave up trying to find a good diagram on the web. Try to think of it this way--imagine the Earth moving around the Sun as a hula hoop that is horizontal. Now picture the Moon going around the Earth as a slightly tilted hula hoop. So as the Moon moves from the lowest part of its hoop up towards the highest part, at one point it crosses the flat plane of the Earth's hula hoop, and that, my friends, is the mysterious point referred to as the North Node of the Moon. Conversely, when the Moon reaches the highest point and circles back down, it crosses the Earth's ecliptic again, and this is the equally mysterious point referred to as the South Node of the Moon. These two points are a seriously huge deal in natal charts! I have heard that Jeffrey Wolf Green says that when God looks at a chart all he see are Pluto and the Nodes--like, that serious! And even though we usually only look at the Moon's Nodes, all the planets have nodes, but that is a subject for an advanced lecture on Evolutionary Astrology, so forget I even brought it up. In Vedic Astrology, the Moon's Nodes are referred to as the Dragon's Head (North) and Tail (South). If you want basic keywords, just think Karma (South) and Destiny (North). But we digress and the eclipses wait for no one.
At the time of New Moon, if the Moon is on the lower or upper tilt of its hula hoop, so between the Sun and Earth, but below or above the line connecting those two, it can not block out the Sun. Only when it is close to crossing the ecliptic going up or down (in other words when one of the Nodes is at the same degree as the Sun and Moon) will it block out the Sun. [It's late now, so I have lost all perspective--somebody please reply to let me know if this is common knowledge and/or if any of this makes sense, or if you are utterly bewildered and have no idea what this has to do with anything.] The closer it is to that crossing point is what makes it approach a total eclipse versus a partial one, and whether it is day or night where you are determines if you are even able to see it. OK, so here is the really cool deal--the reason we get eclipses is because it just so happens that the Sun is about 400 times the size of the Moon and about 400 times as far away from the Earth, so they both appear to be the same size when viewed from Earth. And if I recall correctly, these two (our day light and our night light) are the only two objects that happen to have this relationship to us. Coincidence? Please! What random universe are you living in, and if so, why are you even reading this? I told you I wouldn't take it personally if you unsubscribed. OK, enough with the astronomy lesson; pure science is so boring--why should we care?
I know an astrologer who says if you want to see astrology working, just chart the path of your life against the eclipses. Here's the deal. The Sun goes from dark to light, as it were, in the course of 24 hours, and the Moon does the same in the course of 28 days. When an eclipse happens, these cycles are essentially compressed within a few hours, so it is as if our natural sense of time passing is distorted and we have entered some sort of time warp--it is kind of like a portal to a vortex in time, and there is an opening to a shift--a natural cycle of growth is being concentrated into a few short hours. After the eclipse, everything appears to go back to normal, but nothing is ever the same again. Now, if you are familiar with your natal chart, you would want to see where in your chart the eclipse is occurring in order to see where the shift is occurring, in which house and in relation to which planets. If you are not familiar with your chart, simply take a moment to observe and reflect upon where you are noticing change in your life (and depending on where it is in your chart and if there are significant things in that eclipse degree, you will feel it more or less than others--also eclipse effects may be felt in the period +/- three days and also at later times when that zodiacal degree gets activated, and they last until the next eclipse season and set the tone for the time between the two). I really wish this made more sense, but I have a plane to catch tomorrow, and we are running out of time. I guess if you asked me flat out why I heart eclipses, I would have to say, because you never know what's going to happen, but you know something will, just the thrill of anticipation, even if it is just bracing for a head-on collision with a brick wall, because despite all my Taurus, I have learned enough about cycles to admit that change is good, and stunning when it happens in the blink of an eye.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse will be at 11:55 pm Sunday 1/25/09, and this eclipse season will last until the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 6:49 am Monday 2/9/09 (all times Pacific). The Nodes move backwards through the signs, moving through the entire zodiac about once every 18 years, so they spend about 1.5 years on each pair of sign axes. This pair is the last in the Leo/Aquarius axis, after which they will move on to the Cancer/Capricorn axis. If nothing else, think about changes in the expression of self (Leo) and community (Aquarius), your shining light (Sun-ruled Leo) and the collective genius (Uranus-ruled Aquarius). I truly wish this made more sense than it probably does, but that's the best I can do for now. If you do experience anything unusual, I would love to hear about it. As you likely know, Monday is the Chinese New Year, which of course always takes place on a New Moon, but this year is blessed by an eclipse, in Aquarius no less, with Jupiter making the scene to boot (http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-tob1.htm). Gung Hay Fat Choy!
And why not end with a conjunction of two of my favorite things: wikipedia and etymology, do with it what you will, (perhaps think of what you would like to see eclipsed or cease to exist in your life or on the planet, presumably that which does not sustain healthy growth, and then as we should always consider doing at the time of the New Moon, plant seeds of good intention):
An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when one celestial object moves into the shadow of another. The term is derived from the ancient Greek noun ἔκλειψις (ékleipsis), from verb ἐκλείπω (ekleípō), "I cease to exist," a combination of prefix ἐκ- (ek-), from preposition ἐκ, ἐξ (ek, ex), "out," and of verb λείπω (leípō), "I am absent".[1] When an eclipse occurs within a stellar system, such as the Solar System, it forms a type of syzygy—the alignment of three or more celestial bodies in the same gravitational system along a straight line.[2]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclipse
And yet still for good measure, patient reader, (though it seems in conflict with a geocentric astrology, I like to thing of it simply as consciousness of our revolutions in the cosmos) some final words from Buckminster Fuller born with Sun in Cancer, conjunct Jupiter, and forming a grand water trine with Uranus in Scorpio and Moon conjunct North Node in Pisces (how cool is that?):
The most important thing to teach your children is that the sun does not rise and set. It is the Earth that revolves around the sun. Then teach them the concepts of North, South, East and West, and that they relate to where they happen to be on the planet's surface at that time. Everything else will follow.

The most important thing to teach your children is that the sun does not rise and set. It is the Earth that revolves around the sun. Then teach them the concepts of North, South, East and West, and that they relate to where they happen to be on the planet's surface at that time. Everything else will follow.

Omens of the Inauguration
From: Pardis Barjesteh

Greetings Earthlings,
It is interesting to observe where the divine has staked a place in our language, even where we may have lost a sense of what was once sacred, and which patiently awaits reclamation through divination, if we but learn to once again engage in dialogue and mystic communion.
From dictionary.com comes this offering on the etymological roots of the word inauguration (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/inauguration):
inauguration 1569, from Fr. inauguration "installation, consecration," from L. inaugurationem (nom. inauguratio) "consecration, installment under good omens," from inaugurare "take omens from the flight of birds, consecrate or install when such omens are favorable," from in- "on, in" + augurare "to act as an augur, predict" (see augur). Online Etymology Dictionary, © 2001 Douglas Harper
And our beloved wikipedia elaborates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augur):The augur was a priest and official in the classical world, especially ancient Rome and Etruria. His main role was to interpret the will of the gods by studying the flight of the birds (whether they are flying in groups/alone, what noises they make as they fly, direction of flight and what kind of birds they are), known as "taking the auspices." The ceremony and function of the augur was central to any major undertaking in Roman society--public or private--including matters of war, commerce, and religion.
You may think this is for the birds, but pagan Germans, Tibetans, and Aztecs, among others would beg to differ, as augury like astrology traces its roots to many traditional cultures. Not that I am an expert, and merely do my best to interpret the planets, which offer omens enough to keep me out of trouble. Before offering my thoughts on the subject, I just want to give thanks for the responses to the Jupiter in Aquarius email, many of which included: I'm not sure I really understood it all. It is my hope that in the weeks to come I can provide tools for understanding the symbolic archetypes of the planets, houses, signs, and angular relationships between them that we call aspects, but until then just think of this as an exercise in language immersion learning. As always, feel free to forward this to anyone who might be interested or request to be added to the email list. Past newsletters are now being archived at: http://uraniarising.blogspot.com/. Of course you are also free to delete the email in your inbox or request to be unsubscribed. Postscripts include more links for information on augury as well as an astro-themed film showing in my fair home of Portland OR for any interested neighbors.
This weekend I went to the first birthday (aka solar return) party of someone who like Barack Obama and myself has a Moon in the early degrees of Gemini. Another guest, expecting his first child with a Gemini Sun, asked if there are undesirable days on which to born (under a bad star?), to which I replied, of course, that all charts are unique and exquisitely beautiful in their uniqueness. The truth is that all charts have beauty and shadow--as to what we choose to manifest, the consciousness is all. One of the classic examples of this is the case of Adolf Hitler and Charlie Chaplin, born four days apart, and thus with very similar chart configurations, and distinct similarities in their characters, including the ability to engage the attention of large audiences to varying effect (with Chaplin also memorably parodying Hitler on screen). Uranus and Aquarius, the sign it rules, reflect the themes of the individual and the community, seemingly paradoxically, because the themes of the individual include independence, and also freedom, to claim one's unique genius (another Uranian theme). But a community is nothing more than a collection of individuals, and its strength is derived from their freedom to manifest their unique gifts for the benefit of all. The principle of democracy in the United States is Aquarian in nature, with its values of liberty, freedom, independence, and E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one). What seems most unique about Obama is not that he is African American, but that he is the product of so many cultures: his father's Africa, his mother's Midwest, his birthplace Hawaii, his stepfather's Muslim Indonesia, his Ivy League education, his Chicago community (Aquarian) work, and from all of this literally E Pluribus Unum, the Aquarian democrat.
In a natal chart, the Ascendant or rising sign reflects the way a person navigates through the world, and as noted in the prior email, Obama has Aquarius rising. Discussing the democratic nomination, someone whose views I highly regard shared her opinion that she preferred Clinton for her toughness and experience as a politician, especially as needed for foreign policy issues, stating that Obama's standing reflected not his own accomplishments, but the efforts of the large numbers of people supporting him, but that what was being supported was not in itself necessarily fundamentally strong. Much has been speculated about whether Obama will turn out to be the savior that has been heralded--a cartoon depicted a sign in front on the White House lawn saying, Please do not walk on the water. My friend may no doubt be relieved with Clinton's appointment, and though her thoughts on Obama may be correct, I am not so sure that in itself is a such a bad thing. Heaven knows we hardly need astrologers to tell us things are in a sorry state, and one person, no matter what their virtues may be, is not going to save the world, for that will be nothing less than an Aquarian effort required of the entire collective, including, despite their anti-Aquarian opinions, Rick Warren's misguided flock.
Now it is said that the Ascendant depicts how we appear in the world, but the Sun reflects what our mission is. Obama has the thoughtfulness of the Gemini Moon, and the humanitarian vision and unflappable cool of the Aquarius Ascendant, both air signs, but his Sun is in Leo (the other end of the spectrum from Aquarius)--make no mistake, he is here to lead, and as the lion is the king of the jungle, he basks in the adoration of those of he rules, and so too have some speculated that he may turn out to be nothing more than a demagogue. It is often said that a planet is like a verb, its sign is the adverb that describes the manner of the action, but the house in which the planet is located is the noun that represents where the action is taking place. So the sign and house of the Sun show in what manner and where a person acts in order to shine. Obama's Sun is in the sixth house, traditionally known as the House of the Servant, and associated with the themes of the sixth sign, Virgo: service, work, and health. Contrast a Virgo (sixth sign) Sun in the fifth (Leo) house with a Leo (fifth sign) Sun in the sixth house: the former shines through humble leadership, while the latter shines by showing the way or leading in the act of service, think instead of a head waiter.
At any rate, as far as his primary triad goes, we have seen his Gemini Moon in the power of his speech, his sixth house Sun in his call for a Day of Service, and his Aquarius Ascendant in the theme of his inaugural address: A New Birth of Freedom. As he takes the stage in this time that calls him forth, with Saturn in Virgo (service), Pluto in Capricorn (ruled by that Saturn), and Jupiter in Aquarius, what gives me the greatest hope is the other big three: in mutual reception are Uranus in Pisces (the sign that rules Neptune) and Neptune in Aquarius (the sign that rules Uranus), conjunct Chiron the centaur, which is the healing that emerges from the wound itself. I think it is hard to imagine the extent to which our psyches have been truly traumatized by the last eight years under an administration of sociopathic thugs (for whom we have compassion in that they bear faint resemblance to sentient beings; (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentient_being), and no doubt we have all resorted to some form of Neptunian escapist numbing of our senses simply as a coping mechanism to get through the day. While the theme of the healer is evident in the sixth house Sun, nowhere is it more apparent as a sign of the times and the manner in which this Leo Sun leader reflects it, than in his first house. The first house reflects a person's identity, and is defined by the sign on the cusp and the planets in it, and in the case of Obama, that is Uranus-ruled Aquarius rising on the cusp, and the only planet to be found therein, and the one that matters most now, is Chiron in Neptune-ruled Pisces (compassion, sacrifice, our highest ideals). The message in the heavens at the time of our new leader's birth is the same as that in the heavens today: let the healing begin, for there is much work to be done by all.
With blessings from the cosmos,
Pardis
Augury Links:Encyclopaedia Brittanica offers this on augury:
Prophetic divining of the future by observation of natural phenomena—particularly the behaviour of birds and animals and the examination of their entrails and other parts, but also by scrutiny of man-made objects and situations. The term derives from the official Roman augurs, whose constitutional function was not to foretell the future but to discover whether or not the gods approved of a proposed course of action, especially political or military. Two types of divinatory sign, or omen, were recognized: the most important was that deliberately watched for, such as lightning, thunder, flights and cries of birds, or the pecking behaviour of sacred chickens; of less moment was that which occurred casually, such as the unexpected appearance of animals sacred to the gods—the bear (Artemis), wolf (Apollo), eagle (Zeus), serpent (Asclepius), and owl (Minerva), for instance—or such other mundane signs as the accidental spilling of salt, sneezing, stumbling, or the creaking of furniture.
The prophetic art is age-old; the practice of augury is well substantiated in the Bible. Cicero’s De divinatione (Concerning Divination), dated probably 44 bc, provides the best source on ancient divinatory practices. Both he and Plato distinguish between augury that can be taught and augury that is divinely inspired in ecstatic trance. In China for millennia many have sought the counsel of the I Ching ("Book of Changes") before taking important action. This book interprets the hexagram created by the tossing of yarrow stalks. Among the vast number of sources of augury, each with its own specialist jargon and ritual, were atmospheric phenomena (aeromancy), cards (cartomancy), dice or lots (cleromancy), dots and other marks on paper (geomancy), fire and smoke (pyromancy), the shoulder blades of animals (scapulimancy), entrails of sacrificed animals (haruspicy), or their livers, which were considered to be the seat of life (hepatoscopy).

Jupiter Enters Aquarius
From: Pardis Barjesteh
Sent: Mon 1/5/09 8:05 AM
Greetings Earthlings,
On Monday, January 5th, 2009 at 7:42 am Pacific Time, Jupiter entered Aquarius. Jupiter spends about a year in each sign. Its passage through Capricorn brought heightened focus to those energies just as Pluto was entering that sign and completely changing the cosmic landscape (first in January 2008, and then finally, after a brief return to Sagittarius, in November 2008). With Pluto in Capricorn, that sign will clearly be center stage until 2023, but with Jupiter moving on to Aquarius, we are getting a little breathing room. Capricorn is an earth sign and ruled by Saturn, while Aquarius is an air sign and was ruled by Saturn until we discovered Uranus. 2009 is shaping up to be a stellar year due to three triple conjunctions of Jupiter, Neptune, and Chiron that will occur in May, July, and next Winter Solstice! While these conjunctions will be in late Aquarius, the Jupiter ingress is surely a herald of what is to come. In the weeks ahead I look forward to elaborating more on what all of that means, including the double rulership of Aquarius, given that those two planets, Saturn and Uranus, are now in a series of five oppositions, the first of which was exact on Election Day with four more to come through 2010.
For now, to get a glimpse of what this portends, meditate on the basic archetypal meanings:
Neptune: spirituality, inspiration, imagination, idealism, and dreams of all kinds
Chiron: healing (that emerges forth from the wounding itself)
Aquarius/Uranus: community as a collective of unique individual geniuses, humanitarianism, freedom, revolution, intelligent visionary change
(I can't imagine any astrologers were much surprised when we found out Obama's birth time and saw he was Aquarius rising)
and Jupiter, well, let's just say that for millennia it has been referred to as the Greater Benefic and in India it is called Guru!
Sounds like a good time? You bet! See you at the party--bring your inspired healing visions of change and get ready to manifest on a grand scale.
It's 2009; Jupiter is in Aquarius; and the time is now! And yes that is a cosmic alarm clock you hear ringing!!! 2009 should also be a good year for Neptunian art production (poetry, music, and film). Scroll past postscripts for more key dates this month. Happy New Year!!!
With blessings from the cosmos,
Pardis
p.s. Don't be ashamed if you feel a sudden urge to start singing the opening number from Hair.

The Public Theater's critically acclaimed revival from last summer will be opening on Broadway soon.
http://www.broadway.com/Public-Theaters-Hair-to-Transfer-to-Broadway-in-2009/broadway_news/570829
Apparently the first preview date is was rescheduled for three days earlier than planned--sounds like a kindly soul told them to consider doing it when the Sun was conjunct Neptune/Chiron and Jupiter conjunct the Moon's North Node, needless to say, all in Aquarius--did I mention Uranus rules astrology?
http://www.broadway.com/Hair-Advances-Start-Date-on-Broadway/broadway_news/5016940
p.p.s. If you are waiting for a free chart from me, please feel free to send me your birth data again as a reminder. No doubt I have it on a post-it somewhere, but emailing me your info (date, place, and time ideally from birth certificate) could just speed up the process. (Did I mention Uranus rules technology? It was the passage of Uranus in Aquarius that brought us all cellphones and the internet.) I hope to put together a guide to the best sites to go online to find out more information about your chart, as well as tools to figure out what transits like the triple conjunctions of 2009 mean for you personally by seeing where they occur in your chart.
p.p.p.s. Much sincere thanks to everyone who replied to the Pluto Solstice email! As always feel free to forward this to anyone you think might appreciate it. If someone forwarded you this and you want to be added to the distribution list, just email me. And of course, please email me if you wish not to get further missives in future, and I promise not to take it personally (the cosmos on the other hand could seriously get it's feelings hurt).
Key Dates in January (all times Pacific):
January 10: Full Moon in Cancer 7:27 pm
emotional bumps ahead--meditate to stay calm--deep breaths
January 11: Mercury goes retrograde for three weeks 8:44 am
backup data and save files often--if your electronics start acting illogically weird, don't try to fix them, you will only make matters worse -- expect travel delays and be patient -- anticipate and/or be clear to avoid miscommunications and be patient -- did I say be patient? -- (if I had a dollar for every screwy thing my laptop did just while I was writing this email...yes folks, we are already in the shadow phase)
January 19: Sun enters Aquarius 2:41 pm
can you feel the Jupiter now? if you missed out on meditating during the Jupiter ingress, take a few minutes this afternoon (MLK day no less--sweet!)
January 25: Solar Eclipse New Moon in Aquarius 11:55 pm
plant Aquarian seeds to harvest next month when the full moon blooms, eclipse energy = cosmic miracle-gro
OK, break's over, back to work, remember Saturn is still in Virgo!!!

Apparently the first preview date is was rescheduled for three days earlier than planned--sounds like a kindly soul told them to consider doing it when the Sun was conjunct Neptune/Chiron and Jupiter conjunct the Moon's North Node, needless to say, all in Aquarius--did I mention Uranus rules astrology?

Seasons Greetings Earthlings,
You have received this email most likely because at some point in our conversation the subject of astrology came up and you showed an interest. Perhaps you even gave me your birth data to run a free chart for you, and perhaps you are still waiting for it (it's been a busy year but I promise I haven't forgotten and you are still on my to do list) or perhaps you've even had a reading from me.
As you well know the Winter Solstice is approaching. To be exact, it will arrive at 4:04 am Pacific Time on 12/21 as the Sun enters zero degrees Capricorn. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the moment when from out of the greatest darkness the light begins to grow again. In the week that follows many faiths have holy days to celebrate this moment in our annual solar cycle and light the lights to mark this rebirth. This year the Solstice is extra special as the Sun is joined by Pluto. Pluto takes about 250 years to circle the Sun and also therefore the ecliptic plane which the planets circle and which we have measured with the zodiac for thousands of years now. To be exact, at 1:21 am Pacific Time on 12/22 the Sun and Pluto will be conjunct in Capricorn just barely still in degree zero.
Pluto as you may recall from myth is the god of the underworld and its archetypal symbolism is that of death and rebirth and the transformation that this brings. Before telescopes revealed Pluto to us, Saturn was the farthest out planet we knew, the bottom line. Today it is Pluto (though astronomers are clearly in denial and many farther out celestial bodies are being discovered all the time). To understand the power of Pluto, think of plutonium; Pluto is death by annihilation because something must profoundly die to be profoundly reborn. Pluto entered Capricorn this year and will be there till 2023. Capricorn is associated with among other things businesses, corporations, financial institutions, and we have all seen the headlines on that. No it's not the end of the world, just the end of the world as we know it, and amen for that. Plutonic death is the healthy forest fire that destroys the unsustainable barren old growth to make room for the newly birthing seeds that are needed to sustain us.
So as the Winter Solstice is joined by the powers of Pluto in Capricorn, this energy of rebirth is cosmically magnified to the extreme, in a moment that comes only once every 250 years, and which we are alive now to experience. Thus this time brings great cosmic energy to support whatever transformation we choose to manifest in our lives. To participate in this cosmic event, take a few moments this Sunday by yourself or with loved ones to sit quietly and consider where you seek transformation this season, this year, and for the rest of this lifetime, for yourself, your friends and family, our human tribe, and this sweet earth that supports us in every way possible and so desperately needs that in return from all of us at this moment in time. If ever there was a time to plant the seeds of our intentions, this is it! Meditation is good, and yoga particularly appropriate as Capricorn rules the bones. And if you read this after Sunday, know that you have participated even without knowing it, and in the next few weeks the Sun will remain in Capricorn and be conjoined with Plutonic energies in sign if not in direct alignment.
Whether you are a dear friend or someone I have spoken to only a few moments in passing, I am grateful for the good fortune to have met you and the time we have shared and the time yet to come, and I wish you all the deep power of this Pluto Solstice in your journeys and the transformations that lie ahead.
Much love and solstice blessings,
Pardis
p.s. The next few years are bringing a number of cosmic events that will make things interesting to say the least. If you would be interested in receiving an occasional email such as this to bring your attention to the key cosmic moments that will be transpiring, please reply, and I will consider sending a similar email with messages from the universe. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone you think might be interested as well in this or future messages.
